Last native speaker: Alf Palmer (circa 1891-1981), Australia
Alf Palmer is the last Australian to speak the local language of Warrungu and read translate english to hindi. It is part of the Australian Aboriginal languages of Australia. Most of them have already died, and what makes these languages unique is that they do not have a written language and are not related to the languages of other continents. Little is known about Alfa Palmer. He was born in Townsville, Queensland, and like others in the dynasty, he tried to save his own language by working with linguists from Australia and Japan. Later, these scientists return to Townsville to try to bring Warrung back with the help of Alf Palmer’s heirs.
